I had a dream as a teen: to write a children's book. I had no idea what or why or how.<br />
<br />
It didn't happen.<br />
<br />
<br />
I had a dream as a new mom, full of fun and vigor about learning to care for and style my daughter's curly hair: to encourage little ones to love their natural curly hair from the time they were young - all the way into adulthood.<br />
<br />
There is so much negativity when it comes to hair. Much of it is grass is greener syndrome, I'm sure, but a lot of it is just plain cultural. As a culture we have had a hard time accepting Big Huge Curly Hair. I wanted to do something about it. Like Willow Smith did with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmaErg4FUAc" target="_blank">Whip My Hair</a> and Sesame Street did with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enpFde5rgmw" target="_blank">I Love My Hair</a> (ohmy did we watch that on repeat when my daughter was little!) and books like<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Emis-Curly-Coily-Cotton-Candy/dp/1503144941/ref=pd_sim_14_56?ie=UTF8&refRID=11S623JBP3XSRWCFV9FN" target="_blank"> Emi's Curly Coily, Cotton Candy Hair</a>.<br />
<br />
So I started this blog! and I really really wanted to write a book. An "early education" picture book for little kids about how incredible their natural hair is.<br />
<br />
But it didn't happen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I still have that dream! That book is WRITTEN! It is getting illustrations created for it NOW!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CONWJV89qWY/XU5eOFtJ_AI/AAAAAAAB8io/2ocFU0GqEp8ea3SBqm8_rLUZuBgIf44OwCEwYBhgL/s1600/P1150222.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="306" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CONWJV89qWY/XU5eOFtJ_AI/AAAAAAAB8io/2ocFU0GqEp8ea3SBqm8_rLUZuBgIf44OwCEwYBhgL/s1600/P1150222.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Can you believe it?!?! After all this time, my dream is finally going to become a reality. I read the book to my (now 11 year old!) daughter last night and she said she liked it. I guess I'll have to see what you guys all think soon!<br />
<br />
<br />
I seriously cannot wait for this all to come to be. It seems unreal. I am beyond thrilled!! and I want you all to get it, and read it, and tell me what you think, and share it with your friends of littles, and friends of curly headed kiddos!<br />
<br />
There will be a pre-order plan coming, along with the official release and book launch. I'm just figuring all this out as I go, so bear with me! The book will be available on Amazon, hopefully in print but for sure in ebook form for now.<br />

Here's to seeing dreams come true - no matter how old you are, or how long you waited, failed, put it off, and tried again! Dreams do come true!!<br />

<i><span style="font-size: large;">Want beautiful hair bows? </span></i><br />
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Clips that won't slide out of thin hair? </span></i><br />
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Hair <span style="font-size: large;">accessories</span> that will stand up to lots of use and not wear out?</span></i><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.bittybowsboutique.com/" target="_blank">Bitty Bows Boutique</a> is your store!! As the website says, <i>"No slip hair accessories for newborns through teens. Flowers, barrettes, bows, headbands and more!"</i> This online children's hair accessory shop is MOM-owned and just plain awesome! Kelly is SO great to work with, and I kid you not, the moment Q opened her "present" she was in LOVE!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l3BSauLoT8c/UR0pFk5rToI/AAAAAAAABzA/UG1Wg_kBK2Q/s1600/4th+modeling.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l3BSauLoT8c/UR0pFk5rToI/AAAAAAAABzA/UG1Wg_kBK2Q/s400/4th+modeling.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I will be honest, for as much as I love doing Q's hair, and buying her all sorts of accessories, she really just puts up with me! She has her favorites, and her preferences, but for the most part she's not super interested in hair clips.<br />
<br />
Enter - <a href="http://www.bittybowsboutique.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Bitty Bows Boutique!</span></b></a> Q's very first words out of her mouth as she opened the box were,<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Are they JUST FOR ME?!" </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and then, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"I LOVE them!!"<span style="font-size: large;"><b> </b></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

She immediately clipped the blue flower into her hair and the turtle into mine!<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Throughout the rest of the day she kept repeating how much she loves these hair clips by Bitty Bows Boutique! Did I mention that they came in a cute little box with Kelly's business card attached? Yes, the box is important as well because Q *needs* it to keep her new hair clips in! ahh, life with a 4 year old! (I love the box because I can easily reference the email and website for Bitty Bows Boutique!!) <br />

<b>Do you use (or will you

<div style="text-align: center;">
NEVER..I have a story behind this. Cessalye's hair was very curly
at age 2. But at almost 3 it started breaking off BAD. and thinning. I
took her to several drs and they ran tons of tests and bloodwork.
Nothing came back. They attributed it to the little tiny rubberbands I
had used and a high fever she had 3 mo prior. It was very thin and
balding before it started coming back in. And when it did, It grew in
straight. I was shocked. But over the last 6 mo her hair has regained
its tight curls at the scalp. It looked crazy with ringlets underneath
all of the straight straggly ends. So over the months as it grew I would
trim off the straight ends. Now finally it is back to its beautiful
curly state!! Albeit it is short for a 4 yr old but it is adorable and
HEALTHY!!</div>

<b>If you could give us one tip or trick -
what would it be?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wash her hair every other day, then lightly condition
ends. Always air dry naturally and embrace the curls!! Also do not put
little rubberbands in that do not say "safe for hair" and never put in
rubberbands when child's hair is wet. You are asking for breakage in
those areas of hair. Wait until their hair is dry<var id="yiv1602069367yui-ie-cursor"></var></div>

<br />
<b>What is your daily hair routine? </b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Depending
on if I wash my hair before bed or in the morning, my routine varies.
If I wash it at night and sleep on my curls, when I go to style my hair,
I spray "Matrix Color Care Shine Shake", scrunch, and let it air dry. I
use Matrix Full Volume Proforma Firm Hold hairspray after I put the
curls where I want them. If my hair has been freshly washed, I spray
CHI keratin mist before I pick it out. Then I use Tea Tree Thickening
spray to help at the roots with my thin hair. Finally I spray on the
Curly Sexy Curl Enhancer which is a mousse-like substance. I scrunch
and let it air dry for about 30 minutes while I put my makeup on. The
last thing I do is blow-dry my hair with a diffuser. I don't touch it
with my hands at all, just the diffuser and I turn upside down to help
with the volume. After that, I pretty much just spray it because it
styles itself the way I like it.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Do you use chemicals in your hair? </b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
I have had my hair colored since I was pretty young. My sister is a
stylist and she used my hair many times to try new things on. I also
have very dark hair so I've had grays since I was 16. I get color about
once every 4-6 weeks. My sister puts a conditioning treatment on my
hair from time to time at the salon.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Do you use heat (hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc) on your hair?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
I use a hair dryer with a diffuser. When I have shorter bangs, I will straighten my bangs and pull them to the side.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Have you ever straightened your hair? Why or why not? What were/are your thoughts on straightening curly hair?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Yes, I have straightened my hair before. In fact, every time I go to the
salon my sister straightens it. I tell her to cut it how I can style it
curly because I don't have the time to straighten my hair every day. I
think it's fine to straighten your hair if it's curly, just like it's
ok for people with straight hair to curl theirs. I see no problems with
it.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>What is your favorite way to wear your hair?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
I wear my hair down because it's short with some pulled down on my
forehead (sometimes bangs straightened and pulled to the side and on my
forehead.) I was blessed with a big forehead. :-)</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>What do you like best about your curls?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
I
like that I don't have to do much to style my hair. When I tell others
how much time I spend (about 10 minutes or less) on my hair, they can't
believe it. </div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<b>What is the worst hair advice you've ever received?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
That I should straighten my hair because it looks better. </div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>If there was one thing you could say or one tip you could give a young person with curls, what would it be?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Two
things: Get trims often to cut off the dead ends. Do not let anyone
talk you into permanently straightening your hair because THEY think it
will look better. Go with what you think about yourself because you need
to look at yourself and know that you look like what you want to not
what others want you to look like. </div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>If there was one thing you could say or one tip you could give to the Parents of young children with curls, what would it be?!</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Who
doesn't love a curly headed kid?! Find a great stylist and consult with
them about the cut and how you should care for your child's hair. </div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">

<b>How do you keep her still while you style their hair?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Have them watch tv while you sit behind them. Keep them occupied otherwise. Have fun without moving like sing a song.</div>

<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
No,
I feel that at the right age, a person should make their own decisions
about what they want to do to their hair. When my daughter is 18, she
can choose completely what she would want for herself, but, until then, I
will have an opinion and the final say.</div>

I
love to do Brooklyn's hair. It is so soft and just enough curls to make
it full and beautiful. Her hair is great and we have fun during hair
time!</div>

It's that time of year again! Dance recital time! Q's toddler dance hairstyle is usually pretty basic, the teacher tells all the little girls in her class how she wants their hair and I comply! This time was a "Curly Ponytail" ....Good thing, since curly hair is what you get on this little head!<br />
<br />
<br />
Q's curly hair is really the underneath hair however, so since the teacher specified a "curly ponytail" I wanted to put in a little extra effort to get those curls to pop. I used the matching costume clip to bring some of the straighter parts up and away from the curlier hair. I'm not so sure it really worked! But I tried. and then later I took it out and just let it be a normal ponytail with the dance costume clip.<br />
<br />
Here she is getting her tap shoes on before the dance recital! You can see here how I clipped some of her hair forward, it's not all just hanging down from the ponytail. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZ1Q0MKYANw/T6njhjd8ixI/AAAAAAAABqw/bw7rVLs-FOs/s1600/getting+ready-001.jpg" imageanchor="dance recital hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZ1Q0MKYANw/T6njhjd8ixI/AAAAAAAABqw/bw7rVLs-FOs/s320/getting+ready-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">(Sorry for such a blurry photo! My "good" point and shoot camera is on
it's very last leg, so I have been using my phone a lot lately.)</span></div>

<br />
<br />
and lastly, Q loved her ribbon that she received for only missing one dance class all year long! (My hubby says it's more MY reward than hers, but oh well. I guess at this age, he's probably right! But she loves it anyway)<br />

What do the same styles look like on 2 different babies? You're about to find out!<br />
<br />
I am just so excited to share this post with you. A bunch of awesome hair bloggers have gotten together and coordinated another Hair Carnival! Just for YOU! This is a copy cat carnival... and my blog to copy was unknown to me, I am slightly embarrassed to admit I'd never had the pleasure of seeing her work before! But it was super fun!! Let me introduce .... <a href="http://monkey-dos.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Monkey Dos!!</b></span></a><br />
<br />
And the more I looked at her site, the more I thought - wow. This is the exact sort of blog I set out to create at the very beginning! How cool that I'm not the only one anymore! (Yes, it's been a few years since CHI first got it's start! Q doesn't have the cute short baby hair that she did back then either.)<br />
<br />
So the "guidelines" of this carnival were to copy a style from the blog we were assigned (all surprises!) .... well, we have so much in common I decided to link our similar styles so you can see variations on toddler hairstyles, as well as how each curly toddler hair style works on slightly different hair types.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!!<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>~ Huffleblossoms Review ~</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm thrilled to be reviewing a brand new business today, one created by our awesome hair blog friends over at <a href="http://tweenyhair.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><b>Tweeny Hair</b></a>! Have you heard of Huffleblossoms yet? These are the most unique, well made, attractive hair bows I have seen in a really long time! Read on ...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ej6X4YLq9Ck/T28sE8bh9_I/AAAAAAAABh0/DMSSWX4aeOo/s1600/P1150238.JPG" imageanchor="unique hair bows" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ej6X4YLq9Ck/T28sE8bh9_I/AAAAAAAABh0/DMSSWX4aeOo/s320/P1150238.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When we first received our Huffleblossoms hair bow in the mail my daughter was thrilled! Her eyes lit up and she couldn't wait to wear it. (Which was interesting because she hasn't been interested in hair or hair accessories lately at all. I've even been known to sneak a bow into her hair before she leaves the house - when she's not looking!) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eDK7mqmeVhQ/T28uaXLGugI/AAAAAAAABh8/eRr5lbqVRAg/s1600/P1150237.JPG" imageanchor="unique hair accessories" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eDK7mqmeVhQ/T28uaXLGugI/AAAAAAAABh8/eRr5lbqVRAg/s320/P1150237.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There was no sneaking with these unique hair bows! She wore it every single day without fail for at least a week. Then when she was finally able to part with it for a few minutes - I just had to borrow it! This is such a versatile hair accessories line ... we both love Huffleblossoms!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gWgkpn0TdLw/T28vcB729VI/AAAAAAAABiE/n5D7O6c3MLA/s1600/P1150235.JPG" imageanchor="unique hair bows" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gWgkpn0TdLw/T28vcB729VI/AAAAAAAABiE/n5D7O6c3MLA/s320/P1150235.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Huffleblossoms hair bow we received was made using .... DUCT TAPE! Now if that isn't hip and cool, I don't know what is! My husband didn't believe me when I told him that. He even wanted to attempt to take it apart and see! (It's not legos, honey!) I quickly rescued the hair bow from his inquisitive grasp... this was by far the most attention he's ever given to our hair bows. Haha!! The fabric on the back of the duct tape makes it pretty sneaky. Soft and pliable, and oh so cool!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I see people wearing them, I see them in stores, etc! Q tried one on once and I just fell in love! Too cute! ....BUT... she would never leave it on her head. I know that. </div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Well, I got home.... and after pining away for these headbands and knowing it was silly to spend the money, I decided to make my own! </div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">1. Measure how long you want the headband to be. If your daughter's head is available - all the better! Otherwise, it's okay to guess. We'll be using elastic to help fudge the sizing!</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">* to do this I wrapped the fabric around Q's head and held a hand on the fabric at the base of her neck on either side - a small gap between my hands because that's where the elastic will go! <i>(Wow, I hope that made sense!)</i></div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">2. Using your clear hair elastics, tightly wrap one around each spot where your hands were.</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">3. Next thread your elastic thread (on your crafting needle!) through the clear hair elastics and tie them tightly to each elastic! I used two strands of elastic thread to try to make it a bit stronger. </div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div class="separator" dir="ltr" style="clear: both; text-align: center;" trbidi="on"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TK9bkqnMCvI/AAAAAAAAAsA/G_BNrLQj10s/s1600/P1100814.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TK9bkqnMCvI/AAAAAAAAAsA/G_BNrLQj10s/s320/P1100814.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">4. .... oh wait. That's it! You're done! :D Easy, huh? :) I even left the ends of the fabric hanging down long :)</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div class="separator" dir="ltr" style="clear: both; text-align: center;" trbidi="on"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TK9iCDEeOWI/AAAAAAAAAsE/a4p94B4B_Uk/s1600/P1100810.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TK9iCDEeOWI/AAAAAAAAAsE/a4p94B4B_Uk/s320/P1100810.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">I also made her a white sparkly gauzy one! I think they're adorable, maybe someday she'll learn to leave it on! Oh well! They were cheap! :)</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Oh, yeah, one more design note.... I didn't bother to sew the edges because I figure they can just be tucked under! I made my strips of fabric wide so that I can have a wide headband....OR..... fold it up and have a narrow one! That's the versatility of fabric for ya! :) It's so soft and thin that folding it works. <i>(and who has the time to fold over the edges and sew them up?? Especially when I think about how often Q will actually wear it....)</i></div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TLO_N0r1HjI/AAAAAAAAAtE/NM5tKSs7iIQ/s1600/1010100810.jpg" imageanchor="headband curly hair" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-WGleyvP_fY/TLO_N0r1HjI/AAAAAAAAAtE/NM5tKSs7iIQ/s320/1010100810.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Enjoy! and be sure to send me pictures if your little one leaves it on long enough for you to get the camera out! :D</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />

They blog together over at <a href="http://intermittentbabbling.blogspot.com/search/label/styles" target="_blank"><b>Intermittent Babbling Hair Thoughts</b></a>, you might remember the time we had the girls do <a href="http://curlyqshairdos.blogspot.com/2011/09/hair-carnival-cute-toddler-hairstyles.html" target="_blank"><b>copy-cat styles</b></a> of each others? Read and Enjoy!<br />
<br />
~~*~~*~~*~~<br />
<br />
<b>How old is your little one?</b><br />
Baby O is the big three and doesn't act a day over 25 lol<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4QRWwEnVPbM/Tz6UtTPFF4I/AAAAAAAABeI/Nyz1QXURgn0/s1600/Curlformers4.jpg" imageanchor="cute curly hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4QRWwEnVPbM/Tz6UtTPFF4I/AAAAAAAABeI/Nyz1QXURgn0/s320/Curlformers4.jpg" width="246" /></a></div><br />
<b>What is the daily hair routine?</b><br />
Every morning I spray Baby O's hair with some water and comb through it before I add my homemade shea butter mix to her hair for moisture (if it's out in her not-so-baby-anymore fro). Sometimes I switch it up and use store bought moisturizers, but I always go back to my own mix because I feel it works better on her hair. At night I do the same thing. I really only wet her hair in the bath when it's time to wash it. Summer time I wash her hair once a week (or when she brings home food, dirt and the entire sandbox in her hair lol). This winter I've only been washing her hair once a month and her hair is thriving! When her hair is styled I moisturize day and night, as needed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ft52E08YbWE/Tz6Uup-3MDI/AAAAAAAABeY/jyrKpdOe_2w/s1600/May+2010.jpg" imageanchor="cute curly hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ft52E08YbWE/Tz6Uup-3MDI/AAAAAAAABeY/jyrKpdOe_2w/s320/May+2010.jpg" width="250" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ac0Zigna_M0/Tz6UvKxDrDI/AAAAAAAABeg/LMHrEh1AfyE/s1600/Twistin%25272.jpg" imageanchor="curly hairdo" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ac0Zigna_M0/Tz6UvKxDrDI/AAAAAAAABeg/LMHrEh1AfyE/s320/Twistin%25272.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<b>What is your favorite hairstyle?</b><br />
Free! Baby O loves her fro, but she'll also ask for braids so she can "clack-clack" while she's running around. When I braid it up I love the pigtail cornrows that I recently got brave enough to try lol. I gave myself a goal of learning how to cornrow by the end of this last summer and I did it! I'm not the best by all means, but they're getting better :-) Oh--I also love to twist her hair...they're so versatile and absolutely adorable on Baby O!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Darne618eIU/Tz6UyX1GMgI/AAAAAAAABfE/MueE1_nWoFQ/s1600/holiday+hair3.jpg" imageanchor="curly hair" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Darne618eIU/Tz6UyX1GMgI/AAAAAAAABfE/MueE1_nWoFQ/s320/holiday+hair3.jpg" width="259" /></a></div><br />
<b>What do you like best about her curls?</b><br />
I love Baby O's curls because they're hers! They fit her perfectly and if I want to leave her hair free all I have to do is add a bow and we're done. Don't get me wrong, there are times when her curls give me a tough time, but I wouldn't trade her hair for anything in the world.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TSXBsFTG5Xs/Tz6Ut9q_18I/AAAAAAAABeQ/b0xg0AmzG0Y/s1600/Huffleblossom2.jpg" imageanchor="children's curly hair care" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TSXBsFTG5Xs/Tz6Ut9q_18I/AAAAAAAABeQ/b0xg0AmzG0Y/s320/Huffleblossom2.jpg" width="295" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<b>How do you keep her still while you style her hair?</b><br />
I use the bribe method. I let Baby O have control of the television remote and she can watch whatever shows she wants (age appropriate of course :-)) or whatever movie she chooses from her collection. Dora fruit snacks are also always close by, too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hf8Y1MMgi5E/Tz6UxCTBKtI/AAAAAAAABe0/rv54oBB6DeE/s1600/fauxhawk4.jpg" imageanchor="curly hair care" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hf8Y1MMgi5E/Tz6UxCTBKtI/AAAAAAAABe0/rv54oBB6DeE/s320/fauxhawk4.jpg" width="242" /></a></div><br />
<b>Do you use (or will you encourage/discourage the use of) heat and/or chemicals on your child's hair?</b><br />
Nope! No chemicals in my baby girl's hair. I would prefer to leave her hair chemical free for as long as I can...which means as long as she lives in my house. I may back off and consider it when she's a teenager, but it would completely break my heart to see her natural curl pattern gone.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-b0Dpr6cUeEE/Tz6Uv8zxQ2I/AAAAAAAABeo/puGqY4Atd6w/s1600/Twistin%25273.jpg" imageanchor="curly hair styles for kids" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-b0Dpr6cUeEE/Tz6Uv8zxQ2I/AAAAAAAABeo/puGqY4Atd6w/s320/Twistin%25273.jpg" width="206" /></a></div><br />
<b>What is your favorite aspect of "hair time"?</b><br />
I love that she pretty much has no other choice but to be with me :-)! I love that we can discuss what happened during the day and I tell her how pretty her curls are. We have our "girly" time and talk about whatever pops into her three year old mind. It relaxes me to get my fingers in her hair and mess around with it. Baby O loves when I do her hair...even if they style isn't quite the best, she doesn't care! She walks around with pride telling EVERYONE "my mama did my hair!". I love that little girl!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rhDCowpeywY/Tz6Uxu6spCI/AAAAAAAABe8/BZ2mSn0CLkw/s1600/halo4.jpg" imageanchor="kids curly hair" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rhDCowpeywY/Tz6Uxu6spCI/AAAAAAAABe8/BZ2mSn0CLkw/s320/halo4.jpg" width="249" /></a></div><br />
<b>What is the worst hair advice you've ever received?</b><br />
I was told by a stylist that I needed to put Doo Gro on Baby O's hair to get it to grow. I actually tried it, but it smelled like menthol and her daycare providers actually winced from the strong smell when I brought her to school with it on her scalp (this was before I started researching proper hair care for her, I'm new to the game and was just listening to what I was told...bad idea). I really think that is the only bad advice I've received--her daycare providers are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate all of their inputs!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6XKAnrhW3Yo/Tz6UspjO_TI/AAAAAAAABeA/LUs5xj-yYso/s1600/Beach+Hair.jpg" imageanchor="curly hair" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6XKAnrhW3Yo/Tz6UspjO_TI/AAAAAAAABeA/LUs5xj-yYso/s320/Beach+Hair.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<b>If there was one thing you could say or one tip you could give a young person with curls, what would it be?</b><br />
Love your curls! I hate when I see young girls spending so much time pressing their curls flat just to fit in with their friends. Be yourself and get those curls as big as you can! (I say this as a straight haired person with major curl envy lol) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vet-_23CpmY/Tz6UweNGREI/AAAAAAAABes/9bGg4VazvJ4/s1600/Twists5.jpg" imageanchor="curly hair care" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vet-_23CpmY/Tz6UweNGREI/AAAAAAAABes/9bGg4VazvJ4/s320/Twists5.jpg" width="265" /></a></div><br />
<b>If there was one thing you could say or one tip you could give to the Parents of young children with curls, what would it be?</b><br />
Learn to care for your child's curls how YOU choose to care for them. If you don't know what to do, research it until you find the products and routines that are best for your child. Just because one person chooses to use only natural/homemade products doesn't mean that you should. Learn how your child's curls like to be styled--curls have their own personality and don't like to go into certain styles. Don't force the hair to do what it doesn't want to do :-)<br />
<br />

Oh goodness! Is it friday already?!?! Well do I have a treat for you! Please read on for an awesome interview with the mama from <b>Goldilocks *N* Me</b> ....<br />
<br />
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" id="yui_3_2_0_1_1328913946502181" style="font-family: "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;"></span><br />
<div id="yui_3_2_0_1_1328913946502180" style="text-align: center;">
<b>What is your daily hair routine?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">It varies greatly! It depends on whether or not Goldilocks has a style in. If she does, then I just give her hair a quick moisturizing spray. Right now I'm using Shea Moisture Hold and Shine Moisturizing Hair Mist. But I've also made my own spritz out of water and conditioner before. If she doesn't have a style her daily style will depend on whether or not she has school and I'll incorporate a moisturizer into the styling process. Usually SM Curl and Style Milk. For school I'll mainly stick to ponytails or whatever I can accomplish in the 5 minutes I have for hair! If it's a Saturday and we have no plans I'll just do 1 or 2 braids. And for Sundays I'll do something nice for church. Many of the pictures in our style gallery on facebook are Sunday styles.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Do you have any other "routines" that you add to that, but don't do every day? If so, what are they?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">I wash Goldilocks' hair weekly and cowash mid-week (between our shampoo washes). After washing and conditioning I'll apply moisturizer and then usually band her hair in 2 sections to prepare for styling in the morning.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Do you use chemicals in your hair? </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">No I don't. She's only 6 and I feel like that is way too young. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Do you use heat (hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc) on her hair?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">I have used heat on her hair before. The last time was almost a year ago (Easter). I generally would flat iron her hair for Easter and Christmas each year but last Christmas we used our awesome no-heat curlers instead :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>You have curly hair, too! Have you ever straightened YOUR hair? Why or why not? What are your thoughts on straightening curly hair?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">I straighten my hair all the time. Average would probably be every other month or so. And it is out of sheer laziness. I have a LOT of hair and it's a bit much to deal with this much hair every day when it's left curly. I've been making an effort to wear my hair natural more though, and I'm planning a big chop in the very near future to make it a bit quicker to deal with. I don't have any problems with adults straightening their hair. I try not to do it too frequently though because heat damage can ruin the curl structure. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>What is your favorite way to wear your hair?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">That's tough. I like my hair straight because it's easy. But I love the compliments I get when I get those curls poppin'! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>What do you like best about your curls?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">That they're so healthy. My hair is thick and can take a lot of abuse, like all that flat-ironing, and still thrive.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>What is the worst hair advice you've ever received?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">Nobody's ever really offered me any advice that I can think of! Not bad advice anyway. Maybe I'm unapproachable?? I have had a bad hair experience though. When Goldilocks was about 2, she and her big bro were in an in-home daycare. One day I came to pick the kids up after work and G's hair was in a different style than when I'd dropped them off that morning. It was in a TIGHT side ponytail. The daycare lady informed me that her daughter (a 9 year old) had been "just a'combing on her hair alllllll day long!!" I almost had a breakdown at the fact that my baby had probably been tortured getting her hair pulled on for the whole entire day. Can you imagine?! I not so nicely informed them that my child was not a doll and she was not to touch her hair again. We left that daycare soon after for other reasons. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />

<span class="yiv1769220612Apple-style-span" style="color: #2c2cfb;">To embrace them. Put effort into finding out what styles and products will work for your hair to bring out its full potential so you can love it. Don't be embarrassed to ask your curly friends what they use on their hair. Go on blogs and youtube (with your parent's permission/ supervision!) and find cute hairstyles that will work for your hair type. </span></div>

<b>What is your daily hair routine?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
We usually wash Naomi's hair twice or three times a week, then we would put hair products such as Mixed Chicks on her hair to let it stay. If we don't wash her hair we would braid it and take it out of the braids to make it get curls.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">

<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
Sometimes while we wash Naomi's hair we add olive oil or we might try to put curlformers in her hair at night. </div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">

<b>Do you use chemicals in your hair? </b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
No her hair does not need any chemicals it's naturally curly.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">

<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
No Naomi has not tried blow drying her hair yet due to the softness and since she's little we don't want to burn her scalp.</div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
<br />
<b>Have you ever straightened your hair? Why or why not? What were/are your thoughts on straightening curly hair?</b></div>
<div style="background-color: #fefcff; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;">
We never tried it yet because of the softness, if we do try in the future we will go to a professional to ensure safety.</div>

What do you think?!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I just LOVE this hairstyle for dance! I think it's a great toddler hairstyle for the days you need her hair OUT of her way (think painting?! anything messy really). and you can leave it in for more than one day! It's also a good protective hairstyle because it keeps all the hair contained and ... well... protected! You could braid farther to the ends for more protection, too. <br />
<br />
This hairstyle worked great for us as a <b>unique dance hairstyle</b>, it would also be a great gymnastics hairstyle I would think!<br />
<br />
The best part? It's EASY!!! <span style="font-size: x-small;">(given you know how to do some kind of braid)</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SDyZH8sHxec/Txn0tn-iE9I/AAAAAAAABbk/cmQbHfyqEJo/s1600/P1150215.JPG" imageanchor="Toddler Dance Hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SDyZH8sHxec/Txn0tn-iE9I/AAAAAAAABbk/cmQbHfyqEJo/s320/P1150215.JPG" width="301" /></a></div>
<br />
First I braided two dutch braids (or cornrows) from the front of her head to the back. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LucWKc17mSo/Txn2n9prvOI/AAAAAAAABcE/aC0uvJQ-LWk/s1600/P1150217.JPG" imageanchor="Braided Toddler Hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LucWKc17mSo/Txn2n9prvOI/AAAAAAAABcE/aC0uvJQ-LWk/s320/P1150217.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I crossed them over each other! That's it!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gVAEcL7bDOY/Txn0-MGBEfI/AAAAAAAABbs/9PjXmTWi2o0/s1600/P1150216.JPG" imageanchor="Toddler Hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gVAEcL7bDOY/Txn0-MGBEfI/AAAAAAAABbs/9PjXmTWi2o0/s320/P1150216.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I guess I added some bows for flair ;-) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1tFz4MAuxbM/Txn1OjOQQxI/AAAAAAAABb0/JYh2nC3KgHY/s1600/P1150218.JPG" imageanchor="Unique Dance Hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1tFz4MAuxbM/Txn1OjOQQxI/AAAAAAAABb0/JYh2nC3KgHY/s320/P1150218.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Don't forget a bobby pin or two if the bows won't be enough to hold the braids up by themselves! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-__hoCIBFR2w/Txn1fAIxwEI/AAAAAAAABb8/MDDAUGDc7tQ/s1600/P1150219.JPG" imageanchor="Unique Dance Hairstyle" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-__hoCIBFR2w/Txn1fAIxwEI/AAAAAAAABb8/MDDAUGDc7tQ/s320/P1150219.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>

<br />
I have a history of long hair....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqoA13cRB9I/TxOSp0WbccI/AAAAAAAABbA/LZ9H1dGFzNI/s1600/shoe+business.jpg" imageanchor="Locks of Love" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqoA13cRB9I/TxOSp0WbccI/AAAAAAAABbA/LZ9H1dGFzNI/s320/shoe+business.jpg" width="309" /></a></div><br />
Even waaaaay back when I was a kid I had long hair.<br />
<br />
Well eventually that gets old and you just need some variety, right?! So one day, years ago, I chopped 10 inches off at a hair salon in a mall. and I sent that ponytail to Locks of Love!<br />
<br />
That started a chain of events! I do enjoy long hair. and I do enjoy variety! <br />
<br />
This was me in December.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WFGUk4yITBU/TxOTO4v7YvI/AAAAAAAABbI/kDaIa8lbyGo/s1600/12152011013.jpg" imageanchor="Locks of Love" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WFGUk4yITBU/TxOTO4v7YvI/AAAAAAAABbI/kDaIa8lbyGo/s320/12152011013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Getting my hair styled professionally as you can see!<br />
<br />
AND .... here I am tonight! After a visit to a "real" hair salon that is NOT in a mall... hehehe!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nBdYRtDrZtE/TxOT8dFgO5I/AAAAAAAABbQ/cJZeUdu8r1c/s1600/01152012136.jpg" imageanchor="Short hair for women" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nBdYRtDrZtE/TxOT8dFgO5I/AAAAAAAABbQ/cJZeUdu8r1c/s320/01152012136.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><br />
My dear hubby is very proud of his double-chin-less photo angles!! I have to say I am too! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FC2KRBE0N70/TxOT9nODdWI/AAAAAAAABbY/eIfps1hiiCU/s1600/01152012141.jpg" imageanchor="short hairstyles" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FC2KRBE0N70/TxOT9nODdWI/AAAAAAAABbY/eIfps1hiiCU/s320/01152012141.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
and as soon as I mail it off I can proudly say I have donated FOUR 10 inch ponytails over the years! and I intend to keep it up! Variety in hair length suits me well. :)<br />
<br />

Fishbone Braid? Fishy fishy fishy.... I think there's more names, too. But my mom always called them fishtail braids when I was little, so I guess that's what I call them too!<br />
<br />
I did this fishtail braid on myself (obviously!) trying to be a cool and hip with the side ponytail thing.... it kinda worked I guess! haha But my hair wasn't quite long enough, so the left side fell out pretty quickly. Layers! Oh well.<br />
<br />
The Fishtail Braid!......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--gpZY7nr-KI/TxJuBxsoiAI/AAAAAAAABao/GbuUZxO57Wc/s1600/Photo0146.jpg" imageanchor="fishtail braid" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--gpZY7nr-KI/TxJuBxsoiAI/AAAAAAAABao/GbuUZxO57Wc/s320/Photo0146.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GOLWcIdlE80/TxJuHTaCvII/AAAAAAAABa4/q9nR9pcUp08/s1600/Photo0151.jpg" imageanchor="fishtail braid" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GOLWcIdlE80/TxJuHTaCvII/AAAAAAAABa4/q9nR9pcUp08/s320/Photo0151.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Really should have used a cute flower or something to finish it off with a twist!<br />
<br />
Ok, survey time..... Do YOU think fishtail braids are worth the WAY more time they take to do? (compared to a regular braid) Let me know in the comments!</div>Karli K.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13211990564137455533noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4425614884231952047.post-66942415685321087852012-01-07T22:24:00.000-06:002012-01-07T22:24:35.195-06:00A New Year ~ A New Start<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Wow! Christmastime was busy for us this year! Not at all in the way we expected, but still crazy. I'm still reeling!! I hope the New Year has been treating all my precious followers well so far!! I'd love to hear about your Christmases and New Year's celebrations in the comments!!!<br />
<br />
This new year is feeling different to me than many others in the past. A new calendar hasn't often made me feel like busting out the new years resolutions in the past. And prior to January 1st, 2012, I didn't think this time would be any different.<br />
<br />
Maybe it's just my mood of the evening ;-)<br />
<br />
Or maybe I'm finally getting to a stage in life where a new start is welcome and needed!! hahaha!!<br />
<br />
<br />
I haven't made a list of resolutions. But I think I almost could! My new start for 2012 will include new things to learn! I need to learn about cutting curly hair. I need to learn how to be a better marketer for my doula business and my baltic amber store! I want this year to be new as far as GOALS! I want to get better at setting small attainable goals that all move in baby steps toward the big goals.<br />
<br />
I've not been great in the past at looking farther down my potential life path than a year.... maybe two. But I think it's time to start something new! Long term plans! haha!!<br />
<br />
I have had some ideas and inspiration for this blog ... but I haven't been good about getting them done. I need a new start to that! I want to accomplish my desires!<br />
<br />
I have a new office. and a special drawer dedicated to Curly Hairdo Ideas! Let's hope my newfound desire for organization helps!! hahaa!!<br />
<br />
Anyway, here's to a new start ~ a new year! Here's to taking baby steps and accomplishing dreams!!!<br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">HAPPY NEW YEAR!</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I have a Baltic Amber Jewelry store! <a href="https://www.balticamberavenue.com/collections/all" target="_blank"><b>Baltic Amber Avenue</b></a> <span style="font-size: small;">Can you believe it?! I know, I should mention it more! Well here we go! </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Baltic Amber</span> is a fossilized tree resin. Historically, it has been used as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. <br />
<br />
When Baltic Amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of Succinic Acid from the amber. To receive a therapeutic benefit, Baltic amber must come in direct contact with the skin.<br />
<br />
Baltic Amber has some of the highest concentrations of Succinic Acid found in nature, and this is what makes it so special. Amber found elsewhere in the world does not contain these high concentrations. Succinic Acid is a natural component of plant and animal tissues, and its presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways…<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">• Pain Relief </span><br />
Baltic Amber contains analgestic properties and helps take the edge off many types of discomfort. <br />
(For teething pain, this style of jewelry has been designed with children in mind! The chord will break if much pressure is applied and the strand is knotted between each bead – if it does break, there won’t be beads everywhere! Only one or two should fall off the strand.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4AywIJb8FLc/XU5R4I0R5eI/AAAAAAAB8hs/OtisWqLEuGoU5T-uxzv8qcdGFP9EQhU9gCLcBGAs/s1600/arthritis-bracelet-amber_1024x1024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1023" data-original-width="1024" height="319" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4AywIJb8FLc/XU5R4I0R5eI/AAAAAAAB8hs/OtisWqLEuGoU5T-uxzv8qcdGFP9EQhU9gCLcBGAs/s320/arthritis-bracelet-amber_1024x1024.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">• Helps break the cycle of (chronic) inflammation </span><br />
Where chronic inflammation is present, disease lurks. When the body’s cells are chronically inflamed the human body’s immune system response is to increase production of free radicals. Chronic overproduction of free radicals results in inflammatory-related disease. Chronic inflammation is a common denominator of many seemingly unrelated diseases.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">• Restores Energy </span><br />
The human body naturally produces succinic acid. The salt of succinic acid (succinate) is one of the most active substances in the processes of cellular respiration and intercellular energy creation. Succinic acid restores oxygen and energy supply to depleted cells and helps the body return to a normal, functioning state.<br />
Succinate is a raw material and a catalyst in the Krebs Cycle which is one of our main sources of energy. During the Krebs Cycle carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolized for energy.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">• Maintains Wellness </span><br />
When the human body reacts to stress, the body’s cells begin to use oxygen more quickly. Oxygen plays a central role in the intercellular creation of energy, and a lack of oxygen can result in feeling lethargic.<br />
Oxygen is alkaline-forming in the blood and maintaining a slightly alkaline blood ph helps keep us healthy. Whenever the body functions in a state of low oxygen, it is much more susceptible to illness.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<b>How to get the maximum therapeutic benefit from wearing your Baltic Amber:</b><br />
* The amber must rest against your skin continuously<br />
- Necklaces must be worn under a shirt<br />
- Bracelets should be worn snug<br />
- Anklets can be worn under socks<br />
<br />
<br />
* The amber should be worn as much as possible <br />
- For adults, 24 hours a day – 7 days a week (except when bathing) is ideal! <br />
- For children, necklaces should be removed from the neck when the child sleeps. In some cases some parents choose to move the necklace to the ankle just prior to the child going to sleep. This is done by double-wrapping the necklace around the ankle, and placing a sock over the foot to keep the necklace stationary and warm.<br />
Do NOT let children chew on Baltic Amber beads.<br />
<br />
* Wear Baltic Amber as close to the site of discomfort as you can get it <br />
- Wear a necklace for a headache, a bracelet for arthritis in the hands, etc.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XCL-PKrzL-s/XU5SNfoCZdI/AAAAAAAB8h4/6TeLWoFuPfUPf-XBwc9cRpUzR-BrNp_YQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG20180926073906524_1024x1024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="702" data-original-width="702" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XCL-PKrzL-s/XU5SNfoCZdI/AAAAAAAB8h4/6TeLWoFuPfUPf-XBwc9cRpUzR-BrNp_YQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG20180926073906524_1024x1024.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<b>With care, your Baltic Amber jewelry can last a lifetime!</b><br />
<br />
• Clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth <br />
- Avoid detergents and cleansers as the leave a residue on the amber that interferes with its ability to release its healing oils into the skin.<br />
<br />
• Remove your amber: <br />
- While you bathe <br />
- While in the pool, spa, or in other highly chlorinated water <br />
- Anytime you apply lotions, sunscreens, perfumes, etc, to the area where you wear the amber. These substances leave a residue on the amber that will interfere with its ability to release it healing oils into the skin. <br />
<br />
<br />
Of course, this post has nothing to do with curly hairdo ideas, but it definitely has to do with kids! So I hope you enjoyed, and maybe learned something new about Baltic Amber jewelry.</div>
