Happy Saturday!! (and superbowl weekend, if you're into that!) If you're on our Facebook Page, you already know, but my blogging computer broke! oohhh!!! I know. Anyway, what that means is that I need to revamp my system - and I can't get at pictures right away.  So...... I have a couple guest posts to share with you in the meantime!

A big Thank You goes out to Kalen Smith for these money saving tips! Enjoy!

Cost-Effective Ways to Take Care of Your Child’s Hair

Many people spend a lot more money taking care of their children’s hair than they should. While you want to help your child develop a positive self-image by taking care of their appearance, the process doesn’t have to be expensive. Buying cheaper hair care products may seem like the most obvious way to save money, but you often end up sacrificing quality. Depending on your child’s needs, this may not be the best solution.

However, there are a number of ways that you can save money without taking that risk.

First of all, you should take advantage of all possible discounts. When manufacturers want to operate on greater economies of scale, they often offer discounts to increase sales volumes.

You have probably been told to buy in bulk more times than you want to count. This is advice you should take when buying hair care products as well. However, you don’t want to buy large quantities of a product that you won’t use regularly. Figure out what brands work for your child before committing to buying large quantities. Also, check the unit price of your products, because you sometimes end up paying more when you buy larger quantities.

Always take advantage of coupons and other incentives to save money. Many will be available in your local newspaper or online. Manufacturers often give free samples to consumers, and won’t even charge a shipping cost. All you have to do is fill out your shipping information and a sample will be mailed to your home.

Secondly, you should be careful about how frequently you take care of your child’s hair. If you wash their hair too often, you can end up stripping it of essential oils and nutrients. If you reduce the time you spend washing their hair to once or twice a week you will be saving a lot of money and keeping their hair healthier at the same time.

You can also use smaller amounts of shampoo to lather your child’s hair. You may only be paying a few dollars at a time for a bottle, but some parents go through those bottles within a week. Consider using a pump dispenser so you can use the same amount consistently, but be careful that your child doesn’t play it. They can waste it or get in their eyes if you don’t watch them.

There is no need to be too obsessive about cleaning your child’s hair. It is better to use the right product and follow a few simple tips. Not only will you give your child a better self-image, you will also save a lot of money at the same time. Just know your child’s needs and do your best to attend to them without spending more than you have to.
